The Mio Drive Recorder is taking France by storm with the local tech media responding positively to news of its impending release. Tech blog MaxiGadget calls the device a “black box for cars,” comparing it favorably to the flight recorders used in commercial aviation. Pixmania lists the Drive Recorder’s many useful applications, such as event logging of accidents and other driving-related incidents, recording of personal driving habits and even documentation of “performance driving.” ITRmobiles points to the Drive Recorder’s extensive feature list — 4 gigabytes of internal storage, 640×480 display, automatic and manual recording modes, video output and USB connector. While a firm European release date has yet to be set for the Mio Drive Recorder, it is sure to find a tech-savvy public eagerly waiting to put it through its paces.
